We take care to make pet euthanasia as simple and peaceful as possible.
It is never an easy time to have to say goodbye to a beloved pet that has been a part of your family for as long as you can remember. At Mooresville Animal Hospital, we take care to make pet euthanasia as simple and peaceful as possible. The veterinarian will explain the entire process step by step in accordance with your comfort and interest. Once you are ready, a sedative injection is given so your pet will be very relaxed and sleepy. Then a catheter is placed for the final pet euthanasia medication to be given once you and your family have had the opportunity to say any final goodbyes.
The pet euthanasia medication works rapidly – usually within a few minutes, at which point we’ll confirm that your pet has passed. We’ll then leave you alone and encourage you to spend as much time with them as you need. We can take a paw print of your pet and clip a lock of fur, if you would like them. You’ll have the option to let us arrange for pet cremation, or you may take your pet with you. If you decide the latter, we’ll provide a blanket and stretcher or basket to transport your pet to your vehicle.
Pet cremation services are based on whether you want a private or communal cremation. Private cremation is based on the weight of your pet. We also offer memorial items such as jewelry and cremation art glass. Please let us know if these are aftercare options you wish to learn more about.
We also offer in-home pet euthanasia in Mooresville, North Carolina if you would like your pet to be in their own surroundings. Feel free to ask us about this service if you are interested in learning about it. Contact us today with any questions you might have about pet euthanasia.
