Dr. Madison Cloninger
Dr. Cloninger grew up in Salisbury, NC. She wanted to be a vet since the age of 7 when she started playing doctor. She attended NC State for her degree in Animal Science, graduating as a valedictorian. She went on to veterinary school at Colorado State University, where she also became certified in veterinary acupuncture. She enjoys the ever-changing cases and people she gets to meet in general practice, but also has a keen interest in emergency medicine. In her spare time, she loves outdoor activities– hiking, kayaking, horseback riding, and playing at the parks with her toddler, Elliot, and infant, Nora.
Dr. Anna Austin
Dr. Austin was born and raised in small town Eden, NC. She has loved animals of all sorts for as long as she can remember and spent most of her childhood reading about them or taking care of them. At various times, her menagerie ranged from rodents and birds to dogs and cats.
When she asked her parents for a pony at age 8, they jokingly told her she could have one when she could buy it herself. A few months later, her parents were a little shocked when she told them she had found a pony that cost $300 (the exact amount she had saved). They kept their word and let her buy the (very naughty) little white pony named “Magic.” She continued to be involved in horses for the next 25 years and was even N.C. 4-H Horseman of the Year in 1997.
Dr. Austin received her undergraduate degree in Zoology from N.C. State University (go Pack!) and her doctorate in veterinary medicine from the University of Pennsylvania (go Quakers!). She completed an additional one-year internship at Blue Ridge Equine Clinic in Charlottesville, VA before moving back to N.C. to be near family.
She has been a proud team member of MAH since 2016. She is Fear-Free and USDA accredited. Her special interests include soft tissue surgery and behavior. She loves developing long-term relationships with clients and their pets! Dr. Austin lives in Cornelius with her husband, 2 children, and rat terrier, Foxy. In her free time, she enjoys traveling with her family, wandering around bookstores, and spectating at equestrian events. She is asking for a pony for her next birthday.

Dr. Kathleen Grace
Dr. Kathleen Grace grew up along the shore of Lake Michigan in Muskegon, MI. To all who knew her as a child, it is not surprising that she grew up to become a veterinarian. Her first word was “doggy,” and as a child, she would pass the time at her grandparents’ house by looking up different dog breeds in the encyclopedia. Besides animals, her other love as a child was reading, and she eventually earned her undergraduate degree in English from the University of Michigan. Though she received her veterinary degree from Michigan State University, her loyalty lies with the Wolverines (Go Blue!)
Dr. Grace and her husband, Ryan, recently moved to Mooresville, NC. They share their home with a mixed-breed dog named Ferris and a domestic shorthair cat named Sloane. In her free time, Dr. Grace enjoys running, hiking, and camping with her family, as well as reading and baking. Dr. Joseph Aquino
Dr. Joey Aquino grew up in a small New Jersey suburb near Long Beach Island. His first dog was found in the street in his parents’ north Jersey hometown and would protect him as a baby, play basketball with him like Air Bud, and allow him to do all the crazy things a toddler does with their companion. His love for her and other animals at a young age, along with his family’s support, pushed him toward a career in veterinary medicine at a young age.
Dr. Aquino attended Rutgers University for his bachelor’s degree in animal science before attending Ross University for his doctorate.
